  • Updates from the September Executive Meeting

The executive is actively looking for members who want to be part of growing the fellowship activities facilitated by the 183 Club.

At the September board meeting, several decisions have been made that will affect your experience at the 183 Club. Here are some things you’ll see or hear about very soon:

    Entrance & Building Access

Thanks to the volunteer work of Bill Pickett and Rodney McCarthy, the brick half‐wall at the Club entrance has been removed. This was done to improve safety and security for everyone in the building.

    Payments & Point-of-Sale System

We’re still experiencing delays with installing the new point-of-sale (POS) system due to supply chain issues. Rest assured, we’re working to get it up and running as soon as possible. Once it’s in place, payments will be easier and more convenient for members.

SmartServe Certification – A Critical Reminder

All members are reminded that nobody may be behind the bar without SmartServe certification. This is not simply a house rule—it is a legal requirement under Ontario’s liquor license legislation.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has the right to inspect our premises at any time, unannounced. If anyone is caught behind the bar without SmartServe certification, our liquor license could be revoked immediately and permanently. This would end our ability to serve alcohol and severely disrupt operations at the 183 Club.

To protect the club, please send a copy of your SmartServe card to the President at president.club183@gmail.com.

If you don’t have SmartServe but would like to help bartend at events, the 183 Club offers support: we will cover half the cost of your certification once you’ve successfully completed the course and committed to working bar shifts at the club.

Please be responsible—our license, and the enjoyment of the club for all members, depends on it.

  • President’s Request Dinner Recap – September 5th

What a night! Our first President’s Request Dinner after a long hiatus was a true success. Despite having only a few short days to plan and promote—and a surprise power outage that locked us out of the Club until after 5:30—our team pulled it together with style.

Special thanks go out to Jeremy Kirk and Bill Pickett for creating an incredible meal under tight timelines, and to everyone who pitched in with the bar, setup, and cleanup. It was a real team effort and a wonderful reminder of what fellowship looks like in action.

Everyone was fed and happy in time for our Friday night Dungeons & Dragons group to carry on their weekly game night—proof that nothing stops a good night at the 183 Club.

We’re already looking forward to our next big gathering:
    👉 Corn Roast & Trivia Night – September 20th
