  • Leadership Transition Announcement – President Role Opening This May

After serving as President of the 183 Club, Thomas Brown will be stepping down from the role in May.

This transition is part of healthy organizational renewal. Strong clubs do not depend on one individual. They grow because members step forward.

With that in mind, we are now inviting candidates to put their names forward for the role of President.

    What the Role Involves

    The President is responsible for:

    • Providing leadership to the Board
    • Ensuring corporate and regulatory compliance
    • Overseeing financial and operational stability
    • Supporting events, programming, and member engagement
    • Protecting the long term health of the Club

This is not a ceremonial role. It is a stewardship role. The President ensures the organization remains stable, compliant, and forward looking.

    Who Should Consider It

You do not need to have all the answers. You do need to:

    • Care about the future of the 183 Club
    • Be willing to lead with clarity and accountability
    • Be prepared to work with the Board as a team
    • Understand that stability comes before expansion

A detailed transition plan and succession guide are already in place to support the incoming President. You will not be starting from scratch.

    Why This Matters

The strength of the 183 Club has always depended on members who step up when called. Leadership turnover is not a crisis. It is an opportunity.

If you have ever thought, “I’d like to see this place thrive,” this is your moment to contribute at the highest level.

If you are interested in standing for President, or would like more information about what the role entails, please contact the Board directly.

Let’s ensure the next chapter of the 183 Club is built on stability, clarity, and shared responsibility.

  • Board Update: New Chairs Appointed

We are pleased to welcome Henry Hampel to the Board as our new Chair of Sick and Visiting. Henry steps into this role with a steady hand and a strong commitment to member care.

We are also glad to announce that Jeff Boone has taken up the mantle of House Chair, overseeing the stewardship and day-to-day function of the Club.

Please join us in thanking both Henry and Jeff for stepping forward to serve.

  • Parking Reminder for Members and Guests

This is an important reminder regarding parking at the Masonic Temple building.

    Laneway parking is not permitted.
The laneway beside the building is reserved exclusively for our main floor tenant, who operates a business at all hours, every day of the week. It is not club parking, even briefly, and regardless of the time or day.

Members are asked to plan ahead and use permitted street parking or designated areas. Please also ensure that your companions and guests are aware of this restriction. Members are responsible for the conduct of those they bring into the building.

Rudeness, confrontation, or disrespect toward our main floor tenant or their staff will not be tolerated. Any member or guest found to be engaging in such behaviour may be prohibited from participating in club activities, up to and including suspension of access.

Our relationship with the main floor tenant is critical to the long-term stability of the building and the continued operation of the 183 Club. Courtesy and consideration in small matters protect the privileges we all share.

Thank you for your cooperation and for stewarding the space with care and respect.
